How much Hard Disk Space in FCP for DV25 ?How much hard disk space do I need for
DV25
I got a question from someone wanting to know how
much footage they could fit on their 75GB ATA Hard Disk. Basically DV25 takes up
around 5 minutes per gigabyte at capture time. You need to leave space for
effects and transitions if you are using the same drive for Renders. How much
you need depends on how effect oriented your project is. ATA drives should be
left with around 40% of the space available. Performance starts to dip as you
fill the drive beyond 60%. With FCP4's RT structure this becomes even more
important as disc access is critical.
So the long and short of it a 75 GB HD is good for about 150-200 minutes of footage. Thats around 60% capacity. Posted: Thu - July 17, 2003 at 09:27 AM LunaBlog Final Cut Pro |
